Stonehenge mystery and facts.

The reality and mystery of Stonehenge

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wilshire ,England ,3 km away from west of Amesbury. It consists of rings of standing stones each one around 13 feet high and 7 feet wide and weight around 25 tons. Archaeologists believe it was constructed from 3000 BC to 2000 BC and are one of the most famous landmark of United Kingdoms. The biggest of Stonehenge's stone known as sarsens are up to 30 feet tall and are 25 tons in weight. It is widely believed that they are brough from Marlborough downs,  a distance of 32 km to the north .

Smaller stones known as bluestones.        weight up to 4 tons and are come from different sites in western Wales,  having been transported 225 km, that's huge. This remains a mystery that how 5000 years ago people of that area managed to transport such heavy stones from one place to another with an distance of 32km and 225 km and why do they do it?.  Recent experiments show that it is possible for 1 ton stone to be transported by a dozen peoples by rolling them on woods , but here we are not talking about 1 or 2 tons.

Why stonehenge was made?

It's been always a mystery that why Stonehenge was made but there are some theories which could explain why Stonehenge was built which are :-

1. One of the theory says that Stonehenge was made because to mark the unification of Britain, a point where people across the island worked together and used a similar style of houses, pottery and other items but this theory wouldn't explain why the peoples have to bring blue stone from 225 km away from west Wales and how they do it without any modern technology?.

2. Another theory says that the Stonehenge was actually used as the burial site to bury the deads of the community living there,  but could you think why people used to bring such giant stones from so far to just make a cemetery. So I'll tell you that after a research it was found that the people living near Stonehenge believed that death was not the end of the journey and after death a new life begins.  This theory is considered as more logical than the first one .

How the stonehenge was fixed?

Now you are thinking how could people of that era managed to transport such heavy stones from one place to another without any modern technology. This mystery also has two alternative theories which are -

1. Recent experiment done by the            archaeologists at Stonehenge shows that the giant stones were pulled there with the help of a lot of peoples using the wood pulling technique in which the stones were loaded on cylindrical shaped woods and then pulled by a group of peoples to the Stonehenge but could you imagine how much man power is required for doing this task without any modern technology, it seems impossible but the result is in front of your eyes the giant Stonehenge.

2. The other theory raised by scientists is the possibility that during the last Ice Age the glaciers carried these bluestones so far at the Stonehenge area and the makers of the Stonehenge would not have to move anywhere for them , but this theory did seems less logical that how could it happens ,the stones were carried by the glaciers at exact the Stonehenge area! .
